Description
This is an illustrated short story based on the actual reported events of the galliot named the Nyssiens of Warnemnde (1868). Two contradictory versions exist of this story that hint of a phenomenon happening in the late sailing era: buoyant wrecks left drifting on the sea. The Nyssiens was just one example of a ship carrying timber cargo that concluded her shipping days drifting around the ocean as a derelict. This was a pre-cursor to our modern ocean problem of giant floating trash patches. Since this book does feature a ship from Warnemnde, Germany, it would be appropriate to include some local stories from the sailing era about the seaside town. These stories include: the Pre-Lighthouse Lighting, the Unfortunate Mormon Emissary and of course who could forget the tale of the Canine Bather.
